Patrick R. Rios, General Manager

Patrick Rios oversees the sales and account management functions for BeneScript. Rios was formerly the vice president and co-founder of DrugCard, Inc, where he was responsible for operational and administrative functions. He brings more than 30 years of experience in prescription drug programs to BeneScript.

Prior to co-founding DrugCard, Rios was vice president of sales and marketing of Delivered Pharmacy Services, a mail service home delivery pharmacy owned by Lincoln National. He also has held positions in the pharmaceutical industry with Kremers-Urban Company, Rhone Poulenc, William H. Rorer, and Johnson and Johnson.

Rios's duties have varied from sales to marketing, recruiting, training, and new product development. He also functioned at various sales management levels, from district to regional, with responsibility for 29 states and more than 125 sales and marketing personnel. Rios also has experience in the private sector in office-based physician practices and hospital-based physician practices.

Originally from San Antonio, Rios majored in zoology at Texas A&M University and business at St. Mary’s University.

Jim Rinker, Vice President, National Sales Manager

Jim Rinker has been instrumental in refocusing the division’s sales strategies to obtain significant growth in the public sector. He has almost 10 years of experience in the pharmacy benefits industry.

Prior to joining HealthTrans, Rinker held several senior management positions, including CEO and founder of Conveyor & Storage Dynamics in Menlo Park, Calif. He has served as vice president of sales for Interlake Material Handling and White Automation Systems. His broad experience enables him to bring new tools and disciplines to the pharmacy benefits business.

Rinker holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Universidad de Las Americas, Mexico City, where he gained bilingual skills. He also attended Central Washington University.

Viviana Brantley, Senior Director, Operations

Viviana Brantley offers more than 20 years of experience consulting with managed care organizations, employers, third party administrators and brokers regarding pharmacy benefits and clinical management programs and brings with her the perspective of both the plan sponsor and the pharmacy provider.

Brantley stands out for her ability to identify solutions that address and expose the complex practices used in the pharmacy benefit management industry. She excels at fostering strong industry relations while serving as a passionate client advocate.

Prior to joining BeneScript, Brantley served as a consultant with a premier pharmacy benefit consulting firm specializing in pharmacy and pharmaceutical manufacturer contract management and plan auditing.

Brantley has served as National Accounts Manager for NDCHealth (dba McKesson), working with the largest national retail pharmacy chains and focusing on their strategic business needs related to pharmacy IT, pharmacy systems, data warehouse/information management, and third party payer programs.

Brantley has also served as Regional Vice President for MIM Health Plans (dba BioScrip), and in similar capacities for FoxMeyer Health, Diagnostek/Perform Cost Management, and Eckerd Health Services. While at Eckerd Health Services, Brantley participated in a two-year consulting project with McKinsey Group to evaluate the effect of an aging population and advent of managed pharmacy benefit programs on the practice of pharmacy.

Brantley holds a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Ohio State University. She is a member of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs.

Jack McClurg, Chief Executive Officer

Jack McClurg is a founding member of HealthTrans and serves as the chief executive officer. Prior to forming HealthTrans, McClurg held the position of vice president and chief information officer of Integrated Pharmaceutical Services, the PBM subsidiary of Foundation Health Systems, Inc. (FHS), the fourth largest publicly traded managed care company in the U.S. In this role, McClurg provided executive technical and business leadership, and was responsible for operations of claim processing and decision support services for over $1.4 billion annually in pharmaceutical transactions. Before his transition to IPS, he enhanced his technical career by becoming a principle consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC).

Prior to PwC, McClurg was director of software engineering for Micromedex Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thomson Publishing and a world leader in knowledge-based medical and clinical information systems. Preceding Micromedex, McClurg spent six years with DuPont Co., supporting large mission critical applications across global corporate data centers in the U.S. and Germany.

Steve Groover, RPh, President

Steve Groover, president, oversees the sales and account management operations at HealthTrans. Groover, a registered pharmacist, joined HealthTrans as chief operating officer (COO) in 2006 to direct day-to-day operations and to prepare the company for its continued growth in the marketplace, as well as the industry. Groover brings more than 20 years of experience to the daily operations of HealthTrans.

Prior to joining HealthTrans, he served in various roles with NDCHealth Corporation and eRx Network, both transaction-based products and services organizations. While at NDCHealth, he was general manager and vice president of pharmacy network services, vice president of healthcare data management and vice president of pharmacy systems and services product management. At eRx Network, Groover was responsible for industry relations and marketing. Groover also has more than 20 years of experience in retail pharmacy with the Eckerd Drug Company, where he was corporate manager of third party administration.

He has extensive experience in technology, especially pharmacy systems and transaction-based products and services. His accomplishments include establishing the pre- and post-edit service in 1995, which has since become an industrywide solution for the retail pharmacy market.

Groover earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He is a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. He is also a member of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs, where he has been actively involved as the co-chair of the telecommunication workgroup, drug utilization workgroup, Medicaid workgroup, and chair of the board of trustees.
